Sex With Strangers – Touring 2015

A Co-production between the Tasmanian Theatre Company and Straightjacket Productions in association with the Karralyka Centre.

Originally produced by the legendary Steppenwolf Theater, Sex With Strangers is a thoughtful, tender drama about writers, books, love, ambition, relationships and social interaction in the internet age.

Olivia and Ethan are thrown together in a rural writer’s retreat in Michigan in the middle of a snow storm. Olivia is a beautiful, strong, but fragile conservative English teacher on a quest to write her second novel a decade after her first was a commercial flop. Ethan, a brash, handsome, younger, blogger is a commercial sensation who writes graphic memoirs of his love life and is well versed in the cyberspace potential for fame and fortune.

Sparks fly amid sexual and cultural clashes as this odd-couple grapple with the book vs the e-book, sex vs romance and privacy vs publicity. Sex With Strangers explores the ramifications that our online lives have for our real-world relationships in the digital age.

Sex With Strangers will be touring to every state in Australia in 2015.
